Trinidad and Tobago's national language is English not Spanish, as the most countries in Central and South America due to the fact that it was a British colony since 1802 after being taken over from French and Spain. Therefore, there had been many families from England, Ireland and Scotland moving and settling there. No wonder that English is widely-spoken there than Spanish. It's the same as Suriname, the country nearby Colombia but has Dutch and Javanese as their national language.
